How Article Marketing Can Increase Your Online Sales

Friday, February 5th, 2010

What is the best way to increase your online sales? How can I promote my website for free? What are the benefits of article marketing? Does article marketing work? These are questions that I am asked on a regular basis and are questions that I will be answering in this article.

I own a small business and have a number of websites which I use to promote the services that I offer. I am involved in providing Vodafone Voucher Codes as well as with a company that sell affordable front doors. As like I am sure the majority of webmasters out there, I wanted to attract as many people as I could to visit and read the content of the websites. At the outset due to my lack of knowledge of the best ways of promoting a website I enlisted the help of people who referred themselves as SEO experts. As it turned out neither were they, despite their claims of being an SEO expert.

After some particularly bad experiences with these so called experts of the SEO industry and after wasting a great deal of money I decided to attempt to educate myself on the art of web promotion. This was about seven years ago and one of the first things I was to learn was about the power of article marketing. I started to write articles and was astonished with the results, I was gaining additional traffic that were coming directly from the articles and the websites were also obtaining higher search engine rankings.

Article marketing has stood the test of time and is still as beneficial today as it was seven years ago. Article marketing is a free form of web promotion which is a major benefit to the small businessman!

I aim to write an average of one article per day and have managed to do this for the last two and a half years, the results speak for themselves.

For SEO, which is better — submitting to article directories or posting original article only on your site?

The layman’s guide to back links

back links

Backlinks commonly referred to as ‘inbound links’ are key to the visibility of your web pages in the search engines and attracting visitor traffic. Backlinks have three key properties, the source from which the backlinks are derived, the anchor text of the backlinks and the content of the page to which the backlinks directs the visitor to.

The volume of backlinks

The number of backlinks to a page is one of the elements the search engines consider when deciding how to position the page in the SERPS (Search Engine Page Results).

The source of the backlinks

Backlinks are like votes - the higher the volume of votes (backlinks) the more authoritative the page is viewed by the search engine. But ‘votes’ passed through backlinks from trusted or authoritative pages to a page have greater influence over the search engines view of this page than backlinks coming from pages with lower ‘trust’ or authority. Great examples of trusted sources of backlinks carrying higher authority are pages belonging to education (.edu) and government (.gov) web sites..

Google Page Rank

Backlinks from web pages with high page rank (a ‘reward’ given by Google to each page that it considers over a period to have attracted, sustained and continued to accumulate relevant backlinks) pass some of their page rank via the backlink to the target page.

The ‘anchor text’

Just like a label, the backlink anchor text has influence over the search engines classification of the backlink. Relevance is the first principle for all search engine algorithms and therefore if the content of the page is about ‘drying chillis” then it is from a search engine’s perspective, more valuable for the backlink’s anchor text to this page to contain the word ‘chilli’ as opposed to a related term such as ‘drying spices’.

Common problems

It’s not unheard of for first timers to confuse the quantity with the quality of backlinks and easily be frustrated by their lack of progress For example if a significant number of your backlinks to your ‘parenting’ page come from pages not related to ‘parenting’ then whilst you have backlinks they will almost certainly bring you the wrong traffic.

How to manufacture backlinks

So here is my risk free guidance for getting backlinks to your pages, good visibility in the search engine results pages and quality traffic to your site.

  1. It is critical you select the right keywords before you expend any effort whatsoever.
  2. I like to build a keyword ‘cloud’.
  3. You should always start by identifying a key word or phrase which has a good traffic.
  4. To uncover the volume of visitor traffic is being coming from searches for my primary keyword I use the Google keyword analyzer tool.
  5. I carefully consider words and search phrases related to my ‘top’ level phrase and build my ‘cloud’.
  6. Using this cloud I put together a selection of content containing articles, videos and blog posts each with backlinks labeled with the right anchor text and then use a suite of content distribution tools to disperse my materials to a wide range of directories.
  7. My golden rule is to write content that will attract traffic and persuade them to follow the backlinks to my target pages as well as send backlinks.

SEO: Article Directories Dead?

Friday, December 4th, 2009
robsportsfanatic

I would have liked to submitted my article to directories that relate to real estate. I first checked google for directories called 1. real estate articles and 2. real estate article directory. Most of the these article directories are terrible. So I them tried search for article directory or article directories. I submitted to the first 50 article directories listed with Google. Only 6 of the 50 have approved of my article. The others have not and just seem dead. I noticed many of the article directories show in their footer the year 2005, 2006 or 2007.

My question is: are article directories dead? Is there really 500-1000 article directories out there that are worth submitting to? If yes, does anyone have an updated list? I’ve tried Google, digitalpoint and other resources.

7 Ways to Market Your Small Business Through Articles - For Free!

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

retail led signs

If you’ve been selling products on the internet for any length of time, then you’ve already heard of article marketing.

Article marketing for your online eCommerce site, in its simplest form, is the process of writing high-quality and informative articles, that lend to your expert status on a particular subject. These articles are then distributed to several high-ranking article directories like EzineArticles.com, Goarticles.com, Articlesbase.com, and isnare.com, where you can include a brief HTML or text based author bio with links back to your website.

These links in the bio, not only send traffic back to your site, but also provide you with high-quality and authoritative backlinks from each of the article directories. These backlinks, when structured properly, can provide you with a rankings boost on the major search engines.

However, you should always maximize your articles’ exposure by re-purposing the content in additional locations. Some of the most powerful methods include:

- Chopping each article into 2-3 blog posts to add on you own site’s blog. Schedule each to post 1-3 days apart.

- Combining multiple similar articles into a special report, then selling or giving away that report as a lead generation tool on ebay, your own website, amazon.com, and other sites.

- Reading the article, out-loud, and recording your voice to make a short audiobook and/or podcast that can be disseminated to the various podcast directories like iTunes, podcast alley, and others.

- Taking the audio version of the article, and adding stock or your own photos to make a slide-show video, which you can then submit to video directories like YouTube.com, viddler.com, revver.com, and others.

- Combining the audio, video, and text versions of one or more articles on a particular subject, and make a “home study course” that could then be sold at a premium price point.

- Take one or more of your most well-received and popular articles and offer it for publication through your local newspapers and magazines.

- Take all the articles for a given period of time (i.e. month, quarter, year) and package them into a book that you can sell on amazon, or offer as premium paid content for visitors to your website.

You can feel certain that you can maximize your website’s exposure, and profits, by taking the above ideas and implementing them on each article that you write…consistently over time.If you think about your business, you probably have many projects written down on pieces of paper, on your computer, or just in the back of your mind that you know if you were able to complete them, you would see more revenue, increase your profits, become more efficient, and reach more customers.

Now, if you have employees working in your local office, you want to think about all the costs associated with having them. You have their salary. You have any benefits that you pay for them. You have the rent of their office space. You have their computer cost. And then, you have the management overhead of having someone there, local, in your office.

I’m not saying that it’s bad to have people in your office. If you like that, and it fits your business model, then it’s a great thing. It’s sometimes better to have somebody face to face where you can show them different things and resolve issues quickly. However, there are a number of opportunities where outsourcing to either another country, or, even in the same country, can be of benefit to you.

For example, if you take loading a group of 500 products onto to your website. Maybe it broadens your product line substantially, which can generate more profits, and, give you more tentacles, so to speak, on search engines to bring people to your site.

Let’s say it takes an average of ten minutes to get the data from the supplier’s site, format it, update your pricing, download the pictures, format those, and then go into the backend and actually add all the information and pictures. If you think about ten minutes per product, you can get six products done in an hour, and you have 500 products to do. That’s actually 83.33 hours of time. Now, of course, this is probably a high time estimate. So, let’s say it actually takes twenty hours. Well, is that something that you have, twenty hours to commit to adding those products? Probably not.

Also, if you have an employee in your local office do it, that’s another item on their plate. They cannot be doing something else for you. So, if they can be doing more profit generating activities, why not outsource this?

Outsourcing time-consuming tasks and one-time special projects can greatly decrease your fixed costs and free up you and your employees to allow more time to focus on more important, revenue-generating tasks such as marketing and promotion.

For example, one way many small business owners are advertising their businesses is through the use of affordable outdoor retail led signs.

If you’re new to outsourcing and don’t really know where to begin, there are actually only a very few places that you should spend your time looking for reliable and inexpensive providers. Most of these specific outsourcing websites provide you with a number of tools and services including payment escrow services, project management tools, integrated email / real-time chat applications, detailed search capabilities, and thousands of high-quality providers that are ready to bid on your job, and to make sure that they do a good job for you so you’ll want to use them again in the future.

Take the first step to removing yourself from the day-to-day operations of your small business, website, or eCommerce store and outsource today!

The Keys To Article Marketing

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Article marketing, which got its start as bum marketing, is a simple and straightforward way of creating content that informs or entertains while it helps drum up loads of traffic to your website or blog. Anyone can participate in article marketing, it just takes the right combination of desire, strategy, and writing skill.

Desire is very easy to obtain. If you want to get your website or blog running with both feet, you simply want to start with getting the basics. Strategy is also not so difficult. How many articles do you want to get out on to the intenet and circulate on a daily or weekly basis?

Remember that once you get an article out there on the internet, backlink it to your website, and connect it to your success, it stays out there. Your work becomes more perpetual with exponential results. You do not have to replace the articles you set out to do your marketing with.

Basic writing skills, if you don’t have them, are not hard to find. It takes something unique to be able to write more than 100 or even 500 articles on the same topic. When you find a writer who can write the articles you need for your marketing campaign, give you bulk material, and pass Copyscape every single time then you have found yourself a little great goldmine.

Article marketing is based on the idea that you can give your potential consumers a valuable piece of information or answers to their questions while helping them find your website or blog. You do this through the effective use of your targeted keywords. Effectively using keywords means using the primary keyword maybe 1%, possibly 2% in density while using secondary keywords less. The more you load up your keyword use the less likely you will be to be effective in your article marketing campaign.

The meat and bones of article marketing is knowing what makes for good content for your website. If you aren’t telling the consumer something they need to know or something that will make their purchasing decisions easier, you aren’t being very informative. If you aren’t telling the consumer something beneficial in an easy to read and entertaining method, you are losing customers before they have even completed reading your article.

Give your article marketing campaign the best possible chance to succeed on the internet. Use well spoken, well written, and well informed articles to bring something new to the table. Even if that something new is your voice, bring it with style and with proper spelling and grammar. Commit to submitting a specific number of articles per day or per week to help your exposure grow. And finally, make sure that you are looking at the future of article marketing and catching on the trends as they start to happen on the internet. This is all relative, simple, and a recipe for great success.

How to Get Your Website on the First Page of Google

Monday, November 30th, 2009

If your website isn’t on the first page of Google it is virtually invisible. The traffic volume dramatically lowers as your rank lowers. Being in the first 10 is important as discussed in ppc bully.  If your site is not on the first few pages, it is unlikely that your web site will ever be seen - except by you and your friends!

Google takes into consideration many factors before listing your website in the top ten. But no one knows exactly how much weight Google attaches to each factor. Because of this, no one can guarantee you the number 1 spot in Google or any other search engine.

Getting on the first page of Google can be tedious but is possible if you follow some SEO guidelines. Getting listed on the first page of Google depends on a number of factors:

* The target keyword
* How many websites target the same keyword phrases
* The size of your website
* Usage of keywords in your website
* How may incoming links you have

To get to the top ten of Google, make sure your website is the best for the services and products you offer.   Add regular features, articles and special offers, give your visitors good reason to return to your site. Being the best means you have to constantly research and improve for your target customers.

Identify the best keywords for your website. Make sure to add these keywords in the website title and content of your website.  Make sure it still makes sense to your visitors.  Mix up your keyword phrases, and make sure your text doesn’t sound stilted or un-natural.

Create a lot of one way do follow links to your website. Each links counts as a vote in your favour and is a key factor in search engine optimisation.

While SEO is important and worth paying for if you can afford it, there are some things you can do if you are on a tight budget. Remember that search engine optimization results take time especially if the keyword that you have identified have a lot of competition.

The Advantages Of Automatic Article Generator

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Most people would tell you that they generally don’t trust software and automated scripts. Why? Because according to these people, they can develop a bug every time and can cause more problems. However, what most people fail to understand is that even human beings can develop “bugs” and fall sick or have problems. So what do you do then? At least automated scripts can be rectified and re launched, which really can’t be said for human issues.

Most internet marketers are quite worried about the constant updation and recycling of the content on their websites and blogs. Why? Simply because, the rankings and eventually the earnings of their online efforts depend upon fresh content. Some of them use article writers who cost them a chunk of their net profits. Sometimes, these writers may have issues of their own like sickness and travel. These times leave these expert webmasters stranded since they are unable to meet the demands of their readers and customers. Keeping such problems in mind, a new automatic article generator has been developed recently.

Most people, even the article-writing experts, would at least take a minimum time of five to ten minutes to write an article. However with automatic article generator, you can generate thousands of articles in these ten minutes.

Here are some more advantages of using automated article generator:

  1. This software has the ability to post your articles automatically to all your Wordpress and Blogger blogs. This means you don’t need to go through the tedious manual procedures to post your blogs every day!

This means that apart from the articles you generate, you can even spin your own articles and get 50 unique articles from the same article! Can you think of getting that from a human article writer?
  3. Generally, submitting articles to directories requires going to each website individually and logging in with your user name and password. Once you do that, then you need to fill in all the required blanks. A long and cumbersome procedure that takes up most of your time! Instead, with automated article generator, you can actually submit your article to all the article directories on the net with a mere click of a button! This means that you can actually write and submit hundreds of articles everyday! Imagine the amount of traffic you will generate for your sites!

Driving Traffic To Your Website

Friday, November 27th, 2009

You may have a online business that sells other people’s products or your own products. Whatever your online business is, we need to generate a lot of traffic to our website. Of course, you want traffic that are interested with your product or services.

When I started studying internet marketing, I tried many methods of getting traffic to my website. Not a lot of the software and services offered to me had good effects.

The traffic tactics that I have proven to work well are listed below:

* Linking

Text links can either be paid or free. Adding links in e-zines or in other websites are some examples of paid linking methods. Since this method will cost you money, make sure to do your research first before leasing or purchasing link space. For ezines, make sure they have a good number of subscribers before you advertise.

One of the unpaid models is through article marketing . If you keep doing this, it will definitely make a good impact in your business. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products.

* Pay Per Click (PPC)

If you have the money to invest in your advertising, advertise through pay per click. If you use pay per click, you create a compeling advertisement for your target visitors and bid on the keywords that you want. You will need a lot of time and energy for research and monitoring if you do this manually and do not know the google secret loophole bonus materials. I would advise that you read your affiliate programs and pay per click rules before doing pay per click.

* SEO

Search Engine Optimization is basically the optimization of your web pages so that you can get a decent ranking by the search engines. Although you get free traffic with SEO, optimizing your website can be time consuming.

These are some of the effective ways to get traffic to your website.

Never Ending Benefits of Article Marketing for Your Online Business

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Article marketing is a form of offline and online marketing using written articles. The print media offers businesses a platform for reaching its millions or thousands of readers. The service can be free or paid but the content must be written according to stricked guidelines. Newspaper and magazine articles are usually written by experts. These experts are well versed in certain topics, ranging from sports to financial matters. If you browse through a local newspaper, you will find specific sections allocated for various articles. Issues published weekly may have topics on relationships and youth activities. A well known newspaper will do everything to cater for diverse readers. Print articles come with credits, references, acknowledgements, and contact details at the end of the article. This is important if you want readers to know your business. An article is there to be informative to the reader as well as being an advertising tool to the internet marketer. Either way, even if you are a non-profit making organisation, you will want people to know about your community service or charity work, so that they can donate money to the cause.

The growth of the internet has seen offline article marketing being applied online. Online article advertising is more advanced and open to any good writer. Indeed, there are millions of websites which need fresh content on a daily basis. This is an golden opportunity to thousands of new writers who would not qualify writing for a popular newspaper or magazine. Like offline marketing articles, online marketing articles must have references and contact details. These details are in the form of personal website links, referral links and e-mail addresses.

Online article marketing uses the article directory as the medium of outreach. First of all, the article must be written and posted on a website or blog. It can be a personal website, community blog or affiliate website. There are many webmasters needing content very badly. Written content is like gold and indeed the opium of many a website. Secondly, the content must be written in a way which advances the search engine ranking of the website or web page. Thirdly, if the content is not written in a way which improves the search engine ranking, then it must be valuable and captivating to its audience. Readers will keep coming back for more, and inviting their friends in the process. After satisfying all these requirements, you must then submit your website or blog for directory listing. After a couple of months, 2 or more, you should expect to see your website ranking in the search engines.

Search engine optimization is one great method for online article marketing. An article which is search engine optimized will find its way in the top most searched articles. This means that thousands or millions of internet surfers will find your article online with your links. On the other hand, if your article is not search engine optimized(SEO), none or very few,if any, searchers will come across your article. Search engine optimization is both easy and hard. You may plug some keywords at the right places in your article, but you will have to wait for months to see results. Patience is needed. More so, Google and Yahoo are always changing the rules for search engine ranking. Some of these changes are necessary because there are always one or more web masters who try to take advantage of the system.

Without a doubt, online article marketing is cheaper than newspaper advertising. The good thing about internet is that it has broken the rules for competition. An internet whiz kid can now easily compete on a level field with any big corporation. You no longer need thousands of dollars to implement your marketing plan. There is a lot of successful websites which grew up from nothing more but content. Some of these websites are making thousands and millions of dollars each year. Participating in forums and blogs increases your backlinks to other sites. Backlinking to your website or blog can be free or paid. Webmasters with no or little time for forum participation will buy backlinks at a low cost.

Online article marketing thrives on good content. Unfortunately; there are web masters and affiliates who post low quality articles. The large search engines like Google and Yahoo have introduced rules that reward high quality articles and penalize poor quality articles. The aim is to stop or reduce junk from good search engines. In the beginning, it was believed that using the right keywords will increase traffic to your website. Webmasters started abusing the system, and Google smelled the rot easily and quickly. Google introduced a new rule which penalizes keyword spamming. The density of keywords required for an article was set at 15%. This is more or less one or two keywords per paragraph.

Online article marketing has spawned many platforms for writing articles. Besides community forums and networks which rely on user generated content, there is a number of websites which offer web pages or mini websites to members. Websites like Squidoo and Hub Pages allow the public to create a web page on their platform. All the web pages are hosted by the parent site owners. If you are looking to create a website but you have no money for hosting or designing a website, then this is an opportunity for you. Squidoo and Hub Pages allow content in the form of text, photos, polaroid, videos, html, payment gateways and many more other cool widgets. There is a lot of websites which will allow you to create a free website in exchange for content. Content attracts visitors. Visitors and advertisers generate revenue for website and blog owners.
