The first directory that I ever posted an article to was the ever popular ezinearticles. It has only been around a year but I have to say that it seems like about five years. Prior to being published on their site they conduct a review of the article to ensure that it meets their editorial guidelines - this is what makes this article marketing directory stand out from the crowd - well it is one of the things.

I have noticed many of my own articles appearing in the main search engines, some after only a few days of being published. One of the first articles I submitted was called stuttering and its effects, this article is still placed in the top ten of google after many months.

If you are only planning on submitting your article to one directory this is the one I would advise that you use.

Goarticles

Many people, including a business contact who writes articles about obtaining cheap calls, have told me that they prefer to use goarticles when looking for an article to add to their site. For this reason alone, I always ensure that I submit my article to this directory.

Articlealley

The thing I like about articlealley is that they also include the article you submit to them on one or two of the sister sites. What is more you do not even have to do any additional work. Any extra exposure can only be a good thing of course.

Articledasboard

I have been advised that this directory is becoming increasingly popular and is one I should be posting my article to. The site has a page rank of six which is always a good sign.

Ideamarketers

This directory is my fifth choice in order of merit and has many interesting articles.

It is hard to know how many of these directories people should be submitting their article to. I have been given lots of different advice on this subject and have decided to come up with my own conclusion. I personally normally submit my articles to around twenty of these sites but always the five above.

I have been writing articles and submitting them to various article directories for around a year now. When I started I felt very fresh and had plenty to write about. I must have written around an average of article per day for the first six months but then disaster struck - well at least article marketing disaster - I ran out of things to write about - or at least I thought I had. I had absolutely no idea what to write my next article about. I am going to be writing about ways in which people can fight back when these periods of writing drought appear, I hop you enjoy the read.

I developed a stutter when I was four years of age and it continued to affect my life for the next eighteen years. After a lot of hard work I was able to “stop stuttering” and I have been fluent for the last fourteen years. I now run one-to-one speech courses where I coach other people to also eradicate their stutter. I feel I know quite a lot about the subject and found it quite easy and enjoyable to write about all aspects of stuttering.

After a while I could not think of anything new to write about stuttering, which would be of value to people and made the mistake or re-writing some of the articles using different words. Much to my ignorance I was not aware that this was frowned upon - I now realise that I should have read the article marketing guidelines at the outset - I guess I was just to eager to get started on writing those articles. Either that or employ a company that could provide me with a professional article submission service.

I then wrote about some of the experiences from my own life, like how I coped when my now ex-girlfriend left me and even stories about my dog!

One morning I woke up with very good intentions, I was planning on writing three or four new articles. I turned on the computer and basically sat there. I wrote my first article about twelve months ago and submitted it to a number of what I consider to be the main article directories. These included ezinearticles, goarticles, ideamarketers and searchwarp. Looking back I have to admit that I did not really know what I was doing, and in truth the article was not that impressive. I continued to write more articles and continued to make mistakes.

Ezinearticles are fairly unique in the fact that they human review each site before they publish them - this helps to keep their site as the best in the business. I am now spending a lot more time when I write the articles and feel that they have gradually improved, this has been confirmed by Wally himself I am pleased to report.

So do I personally think that article marketing is beneficial? I have had e-mails from all around the world from people who have enjoyed reading my articles, maybe I am a bit sad but this gives me a little buzz. I have gained a one-way link from a number of these people after they decided to include my piece of work on their websites or blogs. They have helped my external doors and DVD authoring websites to rise up the rankings and has also helped to promote the stuttering therapy service that I offer. I managed to stop stammering a few years ago and as a career I now help other people to achieve fluency.

The people who read the article are potential visitors to your site, a visitor you would not have had, had you not written the article. That visitor could of course turn into a client or purchaser of your product/s.

For me search engines are going down the path of seeing one-way backward links as by far the most powerful form of link. One way links are not as easy to obtain, however writing articles has the potential of creating many one way backward links to you site and therefore is a must for any serious webmaster.

I am one of many people who have realised the many benefits that writing articles can bring. Article marketing is now widely recognised as an excellent way of promoting a website, however there are many more opportunities out there to make money for the budding writer.

There are a number of websites where each writer can notify people of their services and where other people can post a project that they would like to be completed.

You can also earn additional cash by writing freelance for mgazines and newspapers. If your skills are of a higher enough quality and what you write is of interest to a wide audience, there is no reason why you could not earn money in this way.

The power and need for content has never been so great. Webmasters are eager to purchase quality and original content as many of them do not have the time to create their own. I am sure that I am not the only one that has noticed all of the rubbish that is on the internet at the moment; this is exactly the reason why your skills as a top quality writer are much sought after.

Many people might argue that they are not well enough educated to be accepted as a writer in certain quarters. This may well be correct for some people out there, however if you do not try you will never know. Content is king as they say and if your content is good enough and of interest, why would people have an issue with your lack of examinations etc.

Ensure that your content is easy to read and that all of the words are spelt correct. The world is your oyster, go for it.
